TSH Passport Scholarship

Funding cultural exchange opportunities for students and scholars to deepen ties between Houston and South Asian communities.

About the Scholarship

The TSH Passport Scholarship is Tagore Society Houston’s flagship educational initiative. It funds cultural exchange opportunities — travel grants, residencies, and study programmes — for students and emerging scholars who wish to deepen their understanding of South Asian arts, culture, and Tagore’s philosophy.

The scholarship reflects Tagore’s own conviction that education must be broad, cross-cultural, and rooted in human experience — not merely confined to textbooks.

Eligibility

The TSH Passport Scholarship is open to:

  • Students enrolled at accredited universities in the Houston area
  • Applicants of any nationality or background
  • Projects related to South Asian arts, music, literature, dance, or cultural heritage
  • Exchanges and study programmes in India, Bangladesh, or other South Asian countries

Preference is given to applicants who can demonstrate a clear connection to Tagore’s humanistic ideals and a plan to share what they learn with the Houston community on return.

How to Apply

Applications open annually in January. The application requires:

  1. A personal statement (500–800 words) on your proposed exchange or study and its connection to Tagore’s vision
  2. A letter of acceptance or invitation from a host institution
  3. One letter of recommendation
  4. A proposed budget

Submit applications to info@tagoresociety.org with subject line TSH Passport Scholarship Application.
